Sewage???

This weekend we had water in our drain. It was above the drain and I could see the drain under about 5 inches of murky water. It didn't smell or look like poopy water. It was contained in our sump area where the tile runs into the drain. I called the city and they were out blowing out the sewar within 15 minutes after my call. they blasted a lot of paper from the sewer and it sucked the water out of my drain imediately. It didn't cost me a dime. Well not out of pocket anyway, it cost me my tax money for sure. Anyone have problems like this before? God help us if it ever got above the sump area and sprawled out all over the basement.

Count your blessings, and don't flush feminine products down the toilet. And cut down on the tp. Seriously, especially with two females in the house.

We've spent literally thousands on sewer work at our house, but we have a fairly unusual situation being lower than the sewer. All of our sewage has to be pumped up into the town sewer. We don't have problems with it backing up, but the pumps both needed to be replaced.

Growing up we used to get inches of 'poopy' water in our basement after really heavy rains. It was unbelievably bad, and somehow we never forced the city to install a backflow preventer.

Good Lord is right, Mixx! And we're just hearing about this now?

Backflow preventer pretty much the code in Mpls. You can't buy or sell a house without it. I'd think that'd be the code pretty much everywhere.

Maybe now, but not back in the old days. When I bought my house seven years ago there was no such law here in this land. It is a good idea however.

Shit happens...and you know me, I don't tell lots of things that go on in my life...and those sorts of home improvements I assume people find boring.

Backflow preventers definitely code now, but apparently not when Home Park was developed.

I hope that this is not boreing for you.
