Two years ago I helped out with Habitat for Humanity. This year Emily, Jonah, and I passed out geraniums to people in the neighborhood that wanted one. This activity was a good one for the kids to get involved with. Jonah would give them a geranium with instructions for care and then quickly run back to the wagon. He even received a quarter tip from a nice old lady.
Some groups handed out gas cards, water, pop, and gift certificates. I heard that some people were paying for the people behind them at the drive thru at McDonalds. In church the next day we heard about a family who was down to their last 20 bucks. They needed food, but had to get gas to get back home. They were very poor and had to visit a sick relative at the hospital. When they rolled into the gas station, one of our church members gave them a gas card and the family was overjoyed. Christians are not perfect, and we have to overcome a lot of negatives, but I believe that there are a lot of good ones out there trying hard to live more like Jesus. The Clog's are grabbing a paddle and helping as we ride the river of life.
