The pictures a couple of days ago and these today were taken at the same time. The river actually went to the top of the levy but did not flow over as of yet. I spent two and a half hours last night with Emily sandbagging the levy behind the waste treatment plant which is on the downtown side of the levy. We bagged four wide and four high. There were about 4,000+ people helping last night to save our town. I went back this morning to help sandbag and to reinforce weak areas.
I had a team leader meeting with other teachers and my principal today that I refused to attend. It was a moral principal of mine to not attend. I told her that I felt that since we were in a civil emergency and that all the bridges in town were closed it more important to help sandbag. I thought that it was stupid to have a meeting with so much going on. Hell, people are being forced to evacuate and people are losing their homes. Sometimes you have stick up for what you believe in and hold your ground. Pun intended. Here are some photos of wloo: These photos are from Exchange Park (old Rocket Park and Robinson Crusoe Park).

To see some amazing photos from the sky go to the Waterloo Courier and under the multimedia section you will see an area you can click on to see them. Highways closed, deer drownings, property destroyed, and a ton of sadness.
Man, I was looking into some of this stuff earlier in the day. It was tough to concentrate on my work today, actually, as my thoughts kept drifting back to those of my hometown, and all the people who are going through hell down in that region. My heart goes out to you guys.
Hang in there, and good job on the sandbaggin', T-Clog.
Keep up the good works -
Looks like the river's down a bit, even with the extra rain?
Update, please!
