As you didn't know already. Anyway it is here, but it has been so crazy around here that I really haven't had too many opportunities to do nothing.
I went to clean up the classroom on Monday after school was out. Tuesday the river was rising higher than expected so off to Blaine's Farm and Fleet I went to buy a generator in case the power was out for a couple of days. I also bought one for my in-laws. When I got home I started putting up everything in the basement up about two feet or higher. I was not worried about water coming in from the walls or above the walls but from the sewer drain. As you recall from previous posts, my sewer line needed some attention. Well it has been about two weeks since the completed all of the work they needed to on my line prior to the flood. Later that night Emily and I went downtown to help prevent a levee breech. We sandbagged for about three hours. The levee was increased in hight by three additional feet. It was a very satisfying accomplishment because we finished the levee before the crest and that it held. Downtown CF was saved from the flood.
This last week I watched a lot of coverage on the floods in CR and IC. I have also been preparing for the year of the yard. I killed off my grass in the front yard because it was ALL clover. I tried natural products to save my yard, but it came down to them not working. So I am starting over. I had a dump truck load of dirt brought in so that I can improve the grade around my house. Yes, the basement in dry and stays dry, but I want it to stay that way. Thus, I must do some preventative maintenance. I have been controlling weeds and planting a lot of grass in the backyard as well. I can guess what you might be thinking, but I am not that old guy who babies his lawn. My lawn doesn't need to be perfect. It does need to be a yard for kids to play in and one that looks reasonable. Tons of creeping Charlie and even more tons of clover don't cut it.
Some other happenings this summer include getting my children to the right place ant the right time. Emily has softball M,W,F from 4:30-9:00 pm. The play double headers no that the flooding at Exchange Park has been under water for two weeks. It looks like those fields are destroyed and unusable for the rest of the season. Emily also has math tutoring once a week on Thursdays from 10-11am. Jonah has swimming lessons for the next two weeks from 9-10 am. Emily will be going to camps back to back starting the first week of July. After those two camps she starts volleyball camp for two weeks at the high school. This is the stuff that is on the calendar, the stuff that pops up is what gets you from behind.
Well that's it in a nutshell. My summer is like a full time job. I should not complain about it becasue I bet many of you would like to have a job like that. Actually, one of you is already working towards that summer job (Mighty Tom).

That's a great point. Wew should start stacking more up now so we will be ready. Maybe we can build a dome over the town?
I just took my old microwave to the transfer station and it cost five bucks to dispose of it in there recycling department. I am happy to pay the extra money to have it recycled.
Oh, these summer days filled with trivial errands.
