Sunday, Bloody Sunday!

Hailing frequencies are on and working again. We have had some hostile conditions here in this sector. Things are getting back to normal and blogging should be regular from here on out. My appologies to those who have wondered about my status.

I told Trista the night before that I would be willing to attend church with them if I was able to get up in time. Well I didn't wake up on time. I believe that my great friend Pat had something to do with me sleeping in. It was about 9 or 9:30 when I woke up. The first thing that I noticed was the bedroom door. It was open just enough for half a face to peer in and to watch me sleep. Just a little weird, but not as weird as the actions taken on my part. You see, the door thing quickly left my mind as I was moved by music. There is something about T.H. that gets a song to shakes my body. Similar to restless leg syndrome. I shot out of bed and ran into the living room. Pat was watching VH1 or MTV? Anyway, there was a Kid Rock video on. I really don't like KR that much, but things were alligned just right to make me move with happy feet. Pat laughed because he loves it when my body moves to hillbilly songs. Do you all remember the Dukes of Hazzard story from my last visit to T.H.?

Once we had breakfast we just hung out and talked about school, work, and family. I tried to fly Pat's mini helicopter. It takes great skill. I smashed it to the ground once or twice. I always wanted to try one of those, and I did thanks to Pat.

When Trista and Molly came back from church we all got ready to go over to Pat's Parents house for lunch. This is something that they do every Sunday. I had no objections to going. However, I had a few secret reservations.

While heading over to Pat's parent's house for lunch I started to feel a bit awkward. I was thinking to myself, "Please don't let Pat's dad say anything about my vest days or basketball." I was also thinking about the other awkward moments that I had with his family. What others you say? How about the time I tried to get Pat to order pizza with me while he sat there coming up with every excuse in the book why we should not get pizza. This is pizza we are taking about. His mom came down and gave some pizza that she made in the oven. Damn! I felt like the biggest ass. Or how about having a mini crush on his sister at his wedding? Good lord, this family brings out the goof in me.

Son of a Biscut! I shook his dad's hand and he asked me were my vest was. I thought to myself, "Where is the fridgerator, and how many beers would be too many for a guest to drink?" His dad didn't press the issue and Pat's parents were very pleasant. I really enjoyed talking to them. I finally had a positive and normal experience with Pat's parents. I learned how to play ladder ball. Pat was showing me how to play and at the same time explaing the rules to me. He then asked if I wanted to practice a little before starting to play. I gave him the look and said, "Let's do it brother." You guys know the look right? The one that says why waste time practicing, lets play already. Just like in basketball, why waste all the time shooting around getting warmed up? I never had the patients for it. I want to start playing right away. That's how I get warmed up. That's how I roll.

After spending time with the Gibbons family, Pat and I decided to see the new Batman movie. It was called the Dark Knight. Forget all the Batman movies made prior to 2005. They suck! Hey, if I say they suck then tha's something. I LOVE Batman. Christian Bale plays Batman in this mulligan series. The series started over fresh with Batman Begins. Christian Bale plays Batman in this film too. They finally got it right. No more stupid comic book Batman. They have a good story with good directing. Anyway, back to the Dark Knight.

It was scary and well written. I was surprised by how captivating it really was. The joker was the best I have seen, EVER! He scared the crap out of me. I couldn't say a word after the movie. I just looked at Pat and tried to make it to the minivan. I was so excited that I walked the wrong way and was headed for the front entrance. Pat was wondering what the hell I was doing when I noticed that I was walking astray all by myself. I walked back towards Pat and out the correct exit. The next thing I noticed was that I was walking down the wrong isle of cars. Pat is cracking up thinking, "What the hell is wrong with Clogger?" Once in the minivan, I turned to Pat and exploded. I was gyrating all over the van and talking histrically. This was one of the finest films that I have ever seen. YOU HAVE TO SEE THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!!!

After calming down back at the splitlevel, Molly wanted Uncle Nacho and her dad to go to the pool. I was cool with that. We rode bikes there because they were handy. We all looked like dorks with our helments on, Molly excluded. The seat was so painful that I had to ride Pat's circus bike with my arse hanging off to the side. It is called the circus bike because I guess I look like a clown on it. Seriously, they won the damn thing at a circus. Just like the grill Pat won, they have amazing luck at winning things. Pat needs to buy some flippin lottery tickets.

We plopped our bikes down and went for a swim. However, after a small battle with Molly as to who was going in first, the pool, the pool was pleasant with few in attendence. There was an odd couple hanging out there that I tried to stay away from. They seemed to be trying to make out in the water. Creepy! We had a blast in the deep end/clean end. Trista wandered by and looked inweard and then left as fast as she appeared. Songs were made up about Nacho Libre and we rode home under warm and azure skies.

For dinner we wanted pizza. Pat suggested Little Ceasars. My ears perked up right away. I have not had Little Ceasars in years. Now they have small stores that have pizza already made for you. They cost five bucks and you can grab crazy breas and coke for a small nominal fee. We destroyed that thing back at the splitlevel. On our way back we stopped by the video store to get Batman Begins. I needed to see the first movie since I seen the second one earlier in the day. DAMN GOOD movie. I can't wait for a third. We had to go to two seperate movie huts to find the film. I hear when Pat took the movie back he returned it to the wrong store. They called and he had to go pick it up and then deliver it to the other store himself. Funny.

Talk about nonestop exitement.

This was it for Sunday.

Stay tuned for A Case of the Mondays.

Not quite the gripping tale of Saturday, but glad to have the saga continue.

I suppose I have to look forward to a Sunday dinner with JW? No church for me, sleeping in or not.

Hopefully Monday will wind back up the excitement.

And yes, the new Batman movies are excellent.

Your misspellings are hilarious.

Nonestop excitement indeed.

After I wrote this last night, the last thing that I wanted to do was to run spell check.

I am glad that my misspellings are a lot more funny than the events that transpired. Not really.

I forgot to mention that I tried to talk shop with the manager of LC's Pizza, but he was not very willing to go there. I tried to explain that I use to work at LC's when I was in high school. I could not get any free crazy bread out of it. The manager was not cool like the managers from my old hood. I was also telling Pat that I could cut pizzas faster than you would believe. Oh, I forgot this funny exchange: I asked the manager if they still used paper bags to land their pizzas. He looked at me and thought that I was crazy. Maybe that's what killed my chances at getting free crazy bread. I must have been too crazy?

May your angling for free pizza-related stuff never die.

What do you like the most about the new Batman movies?

Pat said...

They're less about the gadgets and more about the characters, especially the latest one.

I have a magic trick to show you if you have a table and a pencil.

Who is JW?

Pat said...

JW? The host for your Sunday meal.

Thanks for picking up the torch again and running with it, CL.

Wow - lunch with ma & pa Gibbs. Now that I recall, somehow I ended up there during my visit, as well. Not even sure what the pretense was, but my guess is that it's impossible for Gibby to be in town for more than four days and not stop by to be with his parents for awhile, guest or no guest. It's sort of like being a Borg and hooking back up with The Collective.

Anyone not believe me? Stop by TH for a visit and see.

I almost avoided the parents...we only accidentally ran into his dad on our way out of the neighborhood.
