Fishing

Fishing? Why did we agree to try this?

We grabbed Dan's gear and headed out to a nearby pond. I remember going to this pond once when I went up to help Dan insulate his attic. The dock then was under water after a huge series of hard rain. It looked promising and that there could be fish in this body of water. However, it has been a general practice of mine to fish in places that have no evidence of aquatic life. I have not caught a real fish in many moons. Now there is a beautiful public dock that is great for casting out a line and it gives real hope of catching something.

Today was not promising. The winds were blowing like a bastard from the arctic tundra and it was as cold as an ice road trucker's ass. It would actually be warmer to ice fish. You would be wearing appropriate attire and possible even have sled hut to fish inside. Another aspect to the pond that gave a poor outlook was the fact that it seemed very shallow everywhere I looked around the dock. You might have to cast 100 yards to get to any water of any reasonable depth.

Dan was confident that if there was anything out there that it would be hard pressed not to take a bite of his articial bait which he had suspended, on the bottom I am sure, by a miniture bobber. The artificial bait iss the pink stuff near the bottom of the picture.

It was hillarious filming Dan as he told us about fishing. We were acting as if we were real professional camera and fishing experts. We would be cancelled after the first show because everything was stacked up against us to not catching a damn thing except a cold. In addition, we were anything but all knowing experts in this arena.

As you can see in the video, we had a great time. As usual we caught nothing. I could not stop laughing because I thought this was insane. I asked myself, who goes fishing like this? People must think that we are crazy. Maybe we are crazy? Crazy for a great time!

I have this theory where we increase the size of the bobber by five times!!! A big ass bobber!!! We can't fail!!!

You are the poor man's Al Linder, the professional from the Infisherman.

I like my explanation that the bobber is not 100 yards out into the lake as it appears but, in fact, simply very small.

You are brilliant!

Let's not get crazy. I don't think trying to catch fish in that manner on a day like that reflects the actions of a brilliant man.

What is a blobber?

a device used in cold shallow water, devoid of fish, but full of good, warm, feelings
